This year, for the 34th time, the Garsten Advent takes place in the enchanting ambience of the “Platzl" square in front of the baroque Abbey Church. Traditional customs, local crafts and outstanding exhibitions ensure that a visit to the Garsten Advent will always be a very special experience for local and foreign visitors alike.. Guided tours on request.. Booths, crafts, exhibitions *The booth market offers a wide variety of local dishes and traditional presents. In the “Platzl” square, visitors can also watch the artisans at work: carpenters, nail makers, ceramists and metalsmith. *The crafts exhibition in the elementary school displays a great variety of handicrafts and offers exquisite presents for sale. Also here the visitors can watch the artisans demonstrating their crafts. *The nativity scene exhibition in the baroque rooms of the Abbey's former prelate building shows old and new nail maker nativity scenes of extraordinary quality. In addition, a large mechanical landscape nativity scene with 25 movable scenes as well as the most beautiful nativity scenes made during nativity scene courses at the Garsten school for nativity scene makers are on display. *The local Raiffeisen bank hosts the exhibition “Meisterstrassenbetriebe stellen sich vor“ (“Enterprises along the road of master craftsmen present themselves”).
Musical and literary programme The Hubertus mass in the collegiate church, pastoral plays and trumpet concerts played from the tower are as much a part of the Advent market in Garsten as St. Nicholas's visit and the old-timer post bus to Steyr.
