To protect our natural and cultural heritage serves the public interest. For many years, the Austrian Federal Forests have played an important part in tending and maintaining Austria's cultural heritage, to be cared for, protected and preserved for future generations.
For arts and culture as well as for nature, our motto is: Preserve the authentic character of that which has historically and biologically evolved over time. Its genuineness must be maintained. The Austrian Federal Forests increasingly strive to take into account the ever-growing convergence of efforts needed to preserve nature and protect monuments.
The Lamberg Castle is owned by the Republic of Austria and run by the Austrian Federal Forests. The Steyrtal Forestry in Mölln is responsible for castle maintenance and use and also manages most of the properties formerly in the possession of the Lamberg Counts.
