The 32st Garstner Advent takes place in an idyllic atmosphere in the square in front of the baroque collegiate church. Unadulterated customs, local handicrafts and exhibitions of high quality make the Garstner Advent market a special experience for all visitors, whether from Austria or abroad. We offer a guided tour on request. • The stands offer a great variety of local food and traditional presents. In the Platzl the visitor can also watch the artisans at work: carpenters, nail blacksmiths, ceramist, art metal worker. • The handicraft exhibition in the elementary school displays a wide range of handicrafts and offers exquisite gift choices. Here as well, you can watch the artisans “over their shoulders”. • The nativity scene exhibition in the baroque halls of the former collegiate prelacy presents old and new nail maker nativity scenes of special quality. On display are also a large mechanical landscape nativity scene with 25 movable scenes as well as the most beautiful nativity scenes built by participants of nativity scene building courses held at the Garsten “Krippenschule” (Nativity Scene School). • The local Raiffeisen bank presents the exhibition “Keltendorf Mitterkirchen“. Musical and literary programme The Hubertus mass in the collegiate church, pastoral plays and trumpet concerts played from the tower are as much a part of the Advent market in Garsten as St. Nicholas's visit and the old-time bus to Steyr We recommend planning a minimum of 1 1/2 hours to visit all the exhibitions.
